                CONCEPTS OF CREATIVITY:
              Concepts are the
                problem solving ideas of life.
                Powerful concepts cross lines of learning areas and disciplines;

                Powerful concepts apply to more than 1 art form;
                Powerful concepts relate to any and all cultures;
                Powerful concepts cross lines of subject matter and technology;

                Powerful concepts have universal application.

              EXAMPLES OF MULTI-DISCIPLINED CONCEPTS

              Discovery
                We inquire to know, we ask appropriate questions, we seek to find
                consistency of pattern and purpose; Either by accident or purely
                by intent we produce a satisfactory product or conclusion that
                is uniquely our own and will stand as our own personal pillars
                of wisdom.
                Harmony-Integration
                We have a sense that when we have applied a good solution
                it feels right, it is integrated, the parts exist with a kind
                of peace and quiescence.
                Problem-Solving
                We seek to see the end from the beginning, we seek a form that
                will follow function or a plan that will answer the need that
                is being addressed. Paradigm-Seeking

                We ask the questions relating to how things are as they are
                and how should they be?
                Fluency-
                Expresses the gaining skill and proficiency in any given activity
                so that thing can be done nearly perfectly and repeatedly almost
                as if without effort.
                Divergency-
                The ability to produce numerous and varied options
                or answers each having some sense of answering the question or
                the task.
                Pattern (Rhythms/Cycles- Time Periods)

                Finding the recurring rhythms that make up music, design,
                nature, and our lives.
                Technology
                The tools we discover, borrow or invent to do the work we need
                to do, from the simplest of hand tools to the most highly engineered
                and technical.
                Soul (viewpoint or personal voice and
                vision)
                (Expression) (style, styles) = Soul
                Expression results from the uniqueness of each person,
                born at unique moments, gifted with unique gifts and abilities
                and given a personal voice to express his or her own story in
                a personal way.
                Theme
                Theme is getting to the heart of meaning; what is the
                purpose or the reason for being of a given thing.
                Environment
                Everything lives somewhere, players share a stage,
                forms share space in a painting, living creatures have their places
                in nature, the stars and the planets populate the infinite spaces
                of the universe.
                Icon
                Thinking humanity (homo sapiens) are always creating symbols to
                stand for other meanings and ideas.
                Evaluation
                When we stop to look back we say, "That turned out
                well," or, "Gee, I wish I could have done it a better,
                faster, stronger, clearer way."

                Art is an area
                of learning that continually emphasizes more of these universal
                concepts than almost any other form of human endeavor. It is Art
                that encourages each person to discover one's own individual soul
                and voice. Art seeks to establish the unique value of each individual.
                We as artists, will share our thinking and discoveries with those
                about us who have ears to listen and eyes to discover and hearts
                to wonder.
