1. Detail is composed
of small lines, marks, or shapes
2. Detail interprets
tone as "rendering" with small lines or marks

descriptive elements and pattern within an area

of detail work, the picture(designs) are smaller

DETAIL
PROJECTS
1. Use fine line
or shapes that are close together to produce a picture.
2. Instead of blending
or painting in strokes to make tones, use separate small marks.
3. Select an interesting
photo for a guide or invent your own subject.
4. Use fine pen points
or gel pens to create your drawing.
5. Compose using
the whole space part to make your drawing a compostion.
6. Trim drawing if
necessary and mount the work to set off the design

COLOR DETAIL PROJECT 2 (Pointillism)
1. Use brightly colored
line details to interpret objects,
2. Select subjects that are rich in detail.
3. Use any color of poster paint and dots or dashes to interpret detail.

COLOR DETAIL PROJECT 3(Scratch Board)
1. Use 9x12 coated scratch board and scratch
in line details to interpret objects.
2. A small knife blade is used to scratch through the black coating,
revealing a white line.

Pen Detail
Almost any kind of pen on white drawing paper
produces some creative possibilities in drawing in detail.
Don't work in a size that is too large to complete easily.
