GENERAL INFORMATION: NEW CLASSES
ACHIEVEMENT STANDARDS IN ART
Graduation Standards are now a state mandate in Minnesota. The aim is to improve the learning and performance of students in  about 24 learning areas.
As graduation standards are implemented, an effort will be made to make students more responsible for their own learning and performance. Graduation PACKAGES are being developed  for "Arts Creation -Performance" at this time. Each person may choose to complete either the art or music component to graduate. Graduation standards will not use the old letter grade evaluation system. Achievement will be based upon a 4 point system or rank based upon "rigor." Rigor is the difficulty factor.
Prior to taking an art performance "package" our classroom assignments, that are intended to build basic understandings and skill, will still be given letter grades for the near future.

The greatest hope of every teacher is that the students in our classes will  take  personal responsibility for completing each  task and  assignment.  Individual students do this to  various degrees from very responsible to very irresponsible. Ideally I would like to prepare a schedule of tasks that  accessible on line that can be done independently.
Helping students to achieve the skills required for successfully completing standards packages for both middle level students and high school students will be the teacher's main task.
