5 SCRIPTURES THAT HAVE PROVED OF GREAT IMPORTANCE
TO MY LIFE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

It is a challenge to make a selection of only five as uncountable numbers hold revelation and understanding.

  1. Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ (Scholars report that there are 365 similar texts found in the Bible that use some form of this verse.) (Why is it important to me? These are the first words the Lord spoke to me when he revealed himself to me on the night of my first God-encounter.)

  2. Ephesians 2:8 “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. “ (Why is it important to me? The rediscovery of this scripture brought about the Protestant reformation as it revealed the “gift of a loving God.” It also shines the light of truth on false teachers and cults who add 'works' to earn salvation.)

  3. Romans 1:16 16. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Why is it important to me? This scripture reveals that it is God Himself who causes us both to will and to do. The product of our life is all God's doing. We respond to the unction he places within us.) Recurrs in 1 Corinthians: Rom_1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 1Co_1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1Co_1:24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God."

  4. John 15:18,19 18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. (Why is it important to me? The world system is at enmity with God. It expresses the principles of the god of this world, Lucifer. True Christian redemption separates us from the world and from its values and fellowship.)

  5. 1 Corinthians 15: 51-54 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written:“Death is swallowed up in victory.” (Why is it important to me? We are given a great and precious promise of the resurrection and full redemption as the ultimate gift of believing. We eagerly await that redemption as the 'blessed hope.”)
